Landfill Gas to Energy (LFGTE)
and Landfill Gas

What type of gas is released in landfills – methane or CO2?

When organic waste decomposes in a landfill, a multitude of gasses are released – predominantly methane and carbon dioxide. The process gas generated are not only potent greenhouse gasses but also have both health and safety concerns for odor, pollution, and toxic substances. Hundreds of successful projects have been completed to control the waste gas emission from LFG and the renewable energy purification process at landfills.

During the advanced treatment stage to upgrade pipeline quality, pressure swing adsorption (PSA) systems are widely used to remove CO2, O2, N2 and VOCs before final use. The waste or tail gas from this treatment must often be controlled before being released to the atmosphere.

Landfill waste gas applications present unique challenges in selecting the correct technology and treatment for your site.

Long life expectancy, low annual operating cost, minimal maintenance, and initial capital cost are all major factors that must be considered before a final choice can be made on which waste gas treatment equipment is right for you. Other critical design criteria include: Siloxane buildup, process composition fluctuations, permit requirements.

Air Clear has experience in supplying standard and customer Flares, Thermal Oxidizers, and Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers for primary, secondary, and advanced treatment stage process waste/tail gas emissions.

We can help you select the correct technology, design the integration into your plant, manufacture/build the system, factory test before shipping, install and commission.

Let our knowledge ensure your project has an effective and well-engineered solution to keep you in compliance.
