Waste Oxidizer-Air Pollution Control Options

HAZARDOUS & INDUSTRIAL SOLID & LIQUIDS WASTE OXIDIZER TREATMENT SYSTEM
Client: Syntex Pharmaceuticals International Ltd.
Location:  Freeport, Grand Bahamas Island, Bahamas
Background:   Syntex Pharmaceuticals is a major manufacturer of pharmaceutical and chemical products.
Problem:   As a result of the chemical production processes, a significant amount of hazardous and non-hazardous solid and liquid wastes are generated daily.  Off-site disposal was not a cost–effective option.
Waste Description:  Wastes include wastewater treatment sludge, industrial solid wastes, solvent-saturated carbon and carbon filters, and a variety of organic, aqueous, and chlorinated solvents.
Solution:   Air Clear engineers designed, fabricated, and installed a complete waste treatment system.
Process Equipment:  The waste treatment system is a direct-fired rotary kiln incinerator with a wet air pollution control and continuous emissions monitoring system.  The Waste Oxidizer was designed to simultaneously process both solid and liquid wastes 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
The highly corrosive nature of the waste required special refractory materials to provide maximum resistance to chemical attack and erosion.
A custom tank farm and specialized solvent metering and injection system provides for optimum storage, mixing and injection of various waste solvents.
The kiln and scrubber system were remotely operated via a state-of-the-art distributive control system (DCS).
